On October 8, 2020, the Paris Appeals Court (Cour d'Appel de Paris) dismissed the case bought before the court by Google and upheld the injunctions made by the Autorité de la Concurrence. On April 9, 2020, the French Competition Authority (FCA; Autorité de la Concurrence) issued several injunctions and Google had appealed those measures. According to the court decision, Google is obliged to remunerate news agencies and publishers for the display of their content in Google search results. In its investigation, the Autorité de la Concurrence concluded that Google has abused its dominance in the search engine market by unlawfully forcing publishers and news agencies to give Google their content for free.
