Introduced Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Bill 2012

On 23 May 2012, the Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Bill 2012 was introduced in the Australian Parliament. The Bill amends the Privacy Act of 1988 to update the privacy principles for the private and public sectors by introducing the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). The APPs substitute the National Privacy Principles and Information Privacy Principles, which are repealed. Moreover, the amendment introduces a credit reporting system that specifies five types of personal information.
