Published French Competition Authority Roadmap 2023-2024

On 3 March 2023, the French Competition Authority (Autorité de la concurrence) published its Roadmap for 2023-2024. In particular, the Authority has established as a work priority the digital economy in all its forms, including the implementation of the European Digital Markets Act (DMA), which requires competition authorities to inform the European Commission of all acquisitions by large platforms regardless of thresholds. The Authority also intends to publish its findings of the sector-specific inquiry into cloud computing in the first half of 2023. Furthermore, it will participate in discussions on the regulation of the competition sector at the national level and the European level. The Authority also plans to closely monitor the strict implementation by major platforms of their commitments in online advertising. More broadly, considering the prominent role of data in most sectors of the economy, the Authority will pay particular attention to this area, in both its antitrust and its advisory capacities. On the operational side, the Authority will continue to allocate resources to several competition cases already underway.
