Description

Resolutions by the FTC include inquiries into tech companies and platform providers

On July 1, 2021, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) published several investigation resolutions. The resolutions are aimed at making the investigation by FTC's enforcement authorities more effective and efficient by ratifying the use of compulsory process. Compulsory process (e.g. subpoenas) lawfully force the addressee to comply with requests for information. The FTC Act authorizes such means for information gathering. The investigations will be centered on tech companies, platform providers and healthcare businesses among others and focus on mergers violating competition and actions violating consumer protection articles protected by the FTC Act.
