Opened consultations on proposed revisions to the Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Act

On 4 March 2023, the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications opened a period for public feedback on the proposed revision to the Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Act until 3 April 2023. Some of the revisions include increasing subsidies for fixed broadband services and basic telecommunications to ensure network stability, improving the security of communication technology especially with regard to the handling of large amounts of user information, and making it mandatory to inform data subjects if data is sent to a third party.
