Adopted Joint EU-US statement on Cyber Resilience under EU-US Cyber Dialogue

On 26 January 2023, the United States Secretary of Homeland Security Mayorkas and the European Commissioner for Internal Market Breton adopted a joint statement in the context of the EU-US Cyber Dialogue. The statement announces three new workstreams concerning various aspects of cybersecurity, such as information sharing, incident response and reporting requirements, concerning critical infrastructure, hardware and software. The plan will involve the European External Action Service, the Directorate-General for Defence, Industry, and Space, and the US Department of State. In addition, a cyber fellowship led by the Department of Homeland Security and DG Connect is to be launched starting in 2023. The first deliverables, which are expected to be reported at the 9th EU-US Cyber Dialogue in the second half of 2023, include a framework for collaboration between ENISA and CISA with a focus on protecting civilian systems.
