Introduced No TikTok on United States Devices Act (S 85)

On 25 January 2023, the "No TikTok on United States Devices Act" (S 85) was introduced in the United States Senate, aiming to impose sanctions with respect to TikTok. In particular, the Act would require the President, no later than 30 days after the date the Act enters into force, to block and prohibit all transactions related to TikTok property and prevent commercial operations related to TikTok in the United States. In addition, the Act would require the Director of National Intelligence to submit to Congress a report on the threats to national security posed by TikTok. The Act would not apply to cases involving national security enforcement.
