Consultation closed on the future of the electronic communications sector and its infrastructure

On 19 May 2023, the European Commission closed its consultation on the potential developments of the connectivity sector and its infrastructure. During the consultation, the Commission gathered views on the changing technological and market landscape and how it may affect the sector of electronic communications. In particular, the consultation addressed the impacts on future networks and business models for electronic communications, fairness for consumers, barriers to the Single Market and fair contribution by all digital players. Furthermore, the consultation addressed the types of infrastructure and the amount of investments that Europe will need to lead the digital transformation in the future.
