Description

Obligation to report crashes to NHTSA for manufacturers of automated vehicles

The U.S. National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issues a standing general order, obliging companies that manufacture automated vehicles, or parts thereof, to notify the NHTSA if the level 2 advanced driver assistance or automated driving system was activated before or during an incident on U.S. roads. In the case of serious accidents, said obligation has to be obeyed by within one day.
