Issued MIIT Notice for apps infringing user rights and interests

On 8 February 2023, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) published a notice with a list of 46 apps and third-party development software kits that have infringed the Personal Information Protection Law and other related regulations. The list specifies the types of violations linked to each app, including illegal collection and use of personal information, illegal pop-up requests, excessive requests for permissions, and deception of users. The companies named on the list are required to rectify the violations before February 15, after which date the MIIT will take enforcement action.
