Opened consultation on FCC Prohibition of all Communications Equipment listed in the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019 and Revocation of current Authorizations

On June 17 2021, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) opened a consultation on a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Notice of Inquiry (Protecting Against National Security Threats to the Communications Supply Chain through the Equipment Authorization Program; Protecting Against National Security Threats to the Communications Supply Chain through the Competitive Bidding Program). The Notice proposes to prohibit the sale and importation of all communications equipment as listed in the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019. Furthermore, all licenses currently being used for such communication equipment would be made void according to the proposal of the FCC. The consultation will be closed on 17 July 2021.
