Published INAI Agreement approving interpretation criteria for personal data protection laws

On 7 February 2023, the Mexican National Institute for Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) published the “Agreement through which it approved the criteria for interpretation pursuant to Article 199 and 200 of the General Law on Transparency and Access to Public Information of 4 May 2015, as amended, and Articles 144 and 145 of the Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties”. The Agreement incorporates several headings and control codes regulating the exercise of data subjects' rights; the obligation to process requests that involve the exercise of data subjects' rights; revision recourse for data rights; personal data protection as a human right; among others. The interpretation criteria included in the Agreement constitute guidelines for private individuals.
