European Union: Approved joint venture between Deutsche Telekom Orange SA, Telefónica SA, and Vodafone Group

On 10 February 2023, the European Commission (EC) approved the creation of a joint venture (JV) by Deutsche Telekom AG Orange SA, Telefónica SA, and Vodafone Group plc, stating that the JV would not raise any competition concerns under the EU Merger Regulation. The JV aims to create a platform for digital marketing and advertising in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK which will allow users to create tailored content for different user groups. The EC concluded that the JV would not reduce competition in the relevant national markets and not impede other companies from entering the advertising market.
