Adopted Guidance on Remote Work includes Data Protection Advice

On July 1, 2021, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment published a guidance on Remote Work in Ireland. The guidance follows a report on Remote Work in Ireland published in December 2019 and a public consultation on a Remote Working Guidance which took place between July 6 and August 7, 2020. The guidance covers many areas including health and safety, employment conditions, equality, training, additional supports as well as data protection. In the area of data protection, the department instructs employers to safeguard the remote access to their networks. Secondly, best practices regarding the protection of personal data when working remotely as well as ensuring that video conference data is secure are mentioned. Finally, cyber security measures both for employees working from home and employers are added.
