The Guidance on the Collection of Personal Data Prior to Viewing a Property is adopted by the Irish Data Protection Commission. If any form of personal data from prospective clients is collected to arrange a viewing, enter into a letting agreement or close a sale, property companies (estate agents) are regarded as data controllers under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and have to comply with data protection principles, such as the principle of data minimisation, the principle of purpose limitation and transparency.
