India: Implemented operation of Grievance Appellate Committees (GACs) online platform

On 1 March 2023, the online platform established by the Ministry of Electronics and IT of India for the Grievance Appellate Committees (GACs) based on recent amendments to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021 became operational. Under the Rules, the GACs have appellate jurisdiction over decisions made by social media companies in response to complaints made through their grievance mechanisms. The GACs are based on a digital platform where users can carry out the entire complaint process.
