Announced investigation into mobile apps compliance with California Consumer Privacy Act

On 27 January 2023, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced an investigative sweep of mobile apps that fail to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act. In particular, the sweep focuses on apps that allegedly fail to comply with consumer opt-out requests or do not offer any mechanism for consumers who want to stop the sale of their data. Furthermore, the sweep also focuses on apps that have failed to process consumer requests submitted through an authorised agent.
