Signed Korea-Singapore Memorandum of Understanding on Artificial Intelligence

On 6 December 2022, the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Communications and Information of Singapore signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on Artificial Intelligence” (MoU) implementing the Korea-Singapore Digital Partnership Agreement. The parties agreed under the MoU to work on setting standards in the “AI ecosystem” to enable AI's ethical and responsible use. The MoU seeks to allow the exchange of AI technologies and expertise on responsible AI use between both countries. In particular, the MoU establishes the following objectives: (i) increasing access to AI technologies and talent; (ii) linking research and industry activities to enable the commercialisation of AI applications; (iii) strengthening the exchange of AI best practices; and (iv) supporting the alignment of AI governance frameworks.
