Signed China-Philippines e-Commerce memorandum of understanding including cybersecurity requirement

On 5 January 2022, China and the Philippines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on electronic commerce (e-commerce). The MoU aims to promote the e-commerce sector through increased cooperation. In particular, the MoU aims to facilitate sharing experiences and best practices in e-commerce between businesses on recommended cybersecurity standards. According to the MOU, well-founded cybersecurity standards enable more cross-border e-commerce. The parties committed to sharing best practices and collaborating on data security and privacy laws
