European Union: EDPS publishes Opinion on the Proposal for a Regulation on Markets in Crypto-assets

The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) publishes its Opinion on the Proposal for a Regulation on Markets in Crypto-Assets, and amending Directive (EU) 2019/1937. In its report, the EDPS stresses the importance of ensuring that underlying technologies of crypto-assets are compliant with data protection rules, while stating that the EDPS principally considers the issuers of crypto-assets as data controllers.
