China: Closed consultation on Provisions on the Administration of Deep Synthesis of Internet Information Services including data protection measures

On 28 February 2022, the Cyberspace Administration of China closed its consultation on the draft Provisions on the Administration of Deep Synthesis of Internet Information Services, including data protection regulations. The Regulation states that algorithm training datasets must follow personal information protection regulations. In addition, providers must remind users to notify and obtain the consent of any individual whose image and/or voice they may be manipulating.
