Passed Online Safety and Media Regulation including European content requirement

On 11 July 2022, the Seanad Éireann (the upper house of the Oireachtas/Irish Parliament) passed the Online Safety and Media Regulation Bill 2022. Besides aiming to strengthen online safety and transposing the revised Media Services Directive, the Bill intends to oblige video-on-demand services to meet a quota of 30% of European content and ensure the prominence of such content in their catalogues.
