Adopted Implementation Procedures for the Signals Intelligence Redress Mechanism Under Executive Order 14086

On 14 December 2022, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence of the United States adopted the public Intelligence Community Directive 126 Implementation Procedures for the Signals Intelligence Redress Mechanism under Executive Order 14086. The Directive implements data the protection measures outlined in the order Enhancing Safeguards for United States Signals Intelligence Activities issued on 7 October 2022. In particular, the Directive includes the process for the submission of complaints issued through the authorised public authorities. Under the Directive, the Civil Liberties Protection Officer will conduct investigations into complaints regarding violations of privacy protections and issue remediation orders.
