Announced Conclusion of EU-Singapore Digital Partnership Negotiations

On 14 December 2022, the EU and Singapore issued a joint statement announcing the substantial conclusion of the Digital Partnership between the EU and Singapore, which aims to advance cooperation between the parties on several digital issues, including trade facilitation, trusted data flows and data innovation, digital trust, standards, digital skills for workers, and the digital transformation of businesses and public services. Further, the parties seek to advance new and emerging areas such as 5G/6G, Artificial Intelligence, and digital identities. Finally, the parties agreed on a set of Digital Trade Principles that will serve as a foundation to enact a set of bilateral digital trade rules in the future.
