On 23 June 2021, The Australian Senate and House of Representatives passed the Online Safety Bill 2021. The accompanying Online Safety (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Bill 2021 was also passed by both Houses on 22 June 2021. The law creates a notification scheme for cyber abuse through users and requires service providers to respond to a removal notice by the eSafety Commissioner within 24 hours.
