Announced UK-Japan Digital Partnership including interoperability regulation

On 7 December 2022, the United Kingdom and Japan announced the launch of a Digital Partnership, including commitments to cooperate in the telecoms sector and develop digital technical standards to ensure the interoperability of digital technologies. In particular, the parties agreed to adopt policies to increase the number of entities providing 5G telecoms and collaborate bilaterally and internationally to develop a consensus for interoperable technologies, set standards, and support the development of telecoms and Beyond 5G/6G technologies.
