Announced UOKiK investigation into PayPal over alleged illegal contractual clauses

On 15 December 2021, the President of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK)announced that is opening an investigation into PayPal over alleged illegal contractual clauses. UOKiK expressed concerns over PayPal's right to impose contractual penalties on users, such as blocking access to accounts, financial sanctions, or terminating contracts. UOKiK also stated that PayPal's list of prohibited activities was not described clearly to users and it is allegedly terminating contracts unilaterally without notice.
