Adopted FCC Rule on Empowering Broadband Consumers through Transparency

On 14 November 2022, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced it had adopted the “Empowering Broadband Consumers Through Transparency Rules”. The Rules require Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to display a broadband consumer label containing critical information about the services provided, including information about prices, introductory rates, data allowances, performance metrics, and whether the provider participates in the Commission’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). The new broadband consumer label will allow consumers to compare the qualities of different broadband services, such as price, speed, and data allowances.
