Adopted Republic of Korea and European Union Digital Partnership including data transfer regulation

On 28 November 2022, the European Union and the Republic of Korea adopted the EU-Republic of Korea Digital Partnership. The treaty enshrines the Parties' political commitment to a set of shared values and objectives connected to the development of a digital society. Data transfer regulation is one of the key areas for which joint actions are outlined in the treaty. The Parties agree to guarantee free and trusted data flows by promoting convergence between data protection rules and building upon the existing adequacy decision for the transfer of personal data.
