United Kingdom: Adopted online safety and data protection joint statement

On 25 November 2022, Ofcom and the Information Commissioner's Office adopted a joint outline detailing their position on balancing online safety and privacy, focusing on harmful activity, especially concerning minors. The statement reaffirms both parties' commitment to harmonising their policies and recommendations in order to facilitate and promote compliance. They also produce a timeline of future steps starting in early 2023, which is estimated as the timeframe for the adoption of the UK Online Safety Bill.
