On 12 October 2022, the Regional Administrative Court for Lazio rejected the appeal filed by Google against the Italian competition and markets authority (Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato- CMA) fine of EUR 10 million. The court upheld the fine issued by CMA over Google's violation of the Italian Consumer Code. In particular, the CMA found that Google has not provided users with precise and complete information concerning the collection and use of their personal data for commercial purposes. It also found that Google had incurred an aggressive commercial practice regarding the "pre-setting consumer consent" system to transfer their data to Google for commercial purposes.
