MICT opens public consultation on draft Data Protection Bill including establishment of Data Protection Supervisory Authority

On 26 October 2022, the Namibian Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) opened a public consultation on its draft Data Protection Bill until 30 November 2022. The Bill aims to establish a "Data Protection Supervisory Authority" and define its respective responsibilities and functions. Further, the Bill also regulates the Authority's power to issue sectoral codes of conduct. Finally, the Bill sets out the Authority's jurisdiction over enforcement of the Bill's other provisions.
