MICT opens public consultation on draft Data Protection Bill including data protection obligations

On 26 October 2022, the Namibian Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) opened a public consultation on its draft Data Protection Bill including data protection obligations until 30 November 2022. The Bill sets out data protection obligations of data controllers and processors concerning the personal data of both individuals and children. The Bill also defines data subject rights, including the right to be informed about data collection and the rights to access and correct personal data. Further, the Bill sets a general prohibition on the processing of certain "special categories of personal data", while also setting out a variety of exceptions to this prohibition.
