On 11 June 2022, the "Merger Filing Fee Modernization Act of 2022", the identical version of Senate Bill 228, was introduced to the United States House of Representatives. The Bill aims to change the graduated merger filing fees that entities have to pay to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The fees would be calculated yearly and adjusted according to the Consumer Price Index. The Bill also outlines how larger merger acquisition requests need to be sent to the FTC as well as the Department of Justice (DOJ) for approval.
