Rosfinmonitoring adds Meta to list of "terrorists and extremists"

On 11 October 2022, the Russian financial monitoring agency Rosfinmonitoring added Meta (the parent company of Facebook and Instagram) to its national list of "terrorists and extremists" organisations, demanding Russian financial institutions freeze its assets and block domestic financial transactions. The decision was taken in accordance with Art. 6 of Federal Law No. 115-FZ "On counteracting the legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime and the financing of terrorism".
