Closed consultation on DCRF report on benefits and harms of algorithms for regulators

On 8 June 2023, the consultation on the report "the benefits and harms of algorithms: a shared perspective from the four digital regulators" by the Digital Regulation Co-operation Forum (DRCF) closed. The DCRF comprises the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Information Commissioners' Office (ICO) and the Office of Communications (OFCOM). The document intends for regulators to understand and articulate the nature and risks of using algorithmic systems, particularly Machine Learning (ML). The paper suggests several areas of shared interest and opportunities for a greater level of cooperation among the DRCF members regarding the use of algorithmic systems: transparency, fairness, access to information, infrastructure resilience, individual autonomy and healthy competition. The stakeholders were invited to submit their comments and share evidence on the harms and benefits of algorithmic processing.
