Open consultation on cross-border transfer of personal data regulation

On 29 September 2022, Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) opened a consultation on the draft “Notification of the Personal Data Protection Committee on Rules and Principles of Appropriate Personal Data Protection for International Transfer”. The consultation seeks to establish the rules for the cross-border transfer of personal data and will amend the Personal Data Protection Act. The proposal also intends to regulate binding corporate rules and standard contractual clauses and will introduce a code of conduct establishing obligations of a personal data transferor and a personal data recipient outside of Thailand. The consultation closes on 24 October 2022.
