Brazilian Data Protection Authority publishes guidance on cookies and personal data protection

On 18 October 2022, the Brazilian Data Protection Authority (ANPD) published its Guidance on Cookies and Personal Data Protection. The Guidance clarifies the definition of cookies and describes the obligations of data processors in regard to cookies, including cookie policies and banners, under Brazil's General Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 13.709). The Guidance is open to ongoing public comments and suggestions, which may be sent to the ANPD Ombudsman through their online platform, with the aim of keeping the Guidance updated and relevant.
