European Data Protection Board requires regulatory harmonisation on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

On 10 October 2022, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), comprising privacy agencies of the respective EU Member States, sent a formal request to the European Commission for new rules, as well as clarification and harmonisation of existing rules on procedures that differ among the Member States under the GDPR. The new rules and clarifications would strengthen the enforcement of the GDPR in international cases and improve cross-boundary cooperation on data protection within the EU.
