United States of America: Consultation opened on draft rules on the Use of Automated Employment Decision Tools (AEDTs)

Description

Consultation opened on draft rules on the Use of Automated Employment Decision Tools (AEDTs)

On 23 September 2022, the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) opened a public consultation on the proposed rules on the Use of Automated Employment Decision Tools (AEDTs) to implement new legislation related to the use of automated employment decision tools (Local Law 144 of 2021), which will regulate the use of automated employment decision tools from 1 January 2023. The proposed rules would clarify the minimum requirements for bias audits that are required by the legislation. Further, the rules define a number of key terms under the legislation, such as the meaning of the "substantially assist or replace" standard for the applicability of AEDTs. The consultation closes on 24 October 2022.
