On 29 October 2019, the German Bundesverwaltungsgericht submitted a reference for a preliminary ruling to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in Cases C-793/19 ECJ/SpaceNet and C-794/19/Telekom Deutschland on the general and indiscriminate retention of traffic and location data.
