Introduction of New York Privacy Act enhancing consumer data protection
The New York Privacy Act is reintroduced to the New York Senate. It would give consumers more control over their personal data, giving them the right to know how data is used, obtain a copy of collected data, correct and delete data. Moreover, the Act requires data brokers to register and pay an annual fee to the Attorney General. In addition to the Attorney General's action, consumers would be able to use a private right of action.
