South Africa: Published draft data and cloud policy includes new data protection authority

The South African Department of Communications releases its Draft National Data and Cloud Policy for written submissions. The draft proposes to review existing regulatory authorities` mandates to establish a single data regulator. It further includes the establishment of an Advisory Council (consisting of private and public representatives and academia) for data management standards, regulatory framework development, interoperability framework development and policy considerations on an AI code of ethics.
