Announced proposal for registry of consent to data processing and storage

On 1 September 2022, the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media announced a proposal for a public registry that would record the consent individuals have given for the processing and storage of their personal data. The proposal was sent to the President for consideration. The proposal stipulates that private firms and public institutions that offer services could obtain users' preferences regarding data processing through a public portal. Individuals would be able to see all the service providers who have the right to collect and process their data. In addition, individuals would be able to withdraw consent and request the deletion of their personal data.
