On 31 August 2022, the Federal Cabinet of Germany adopted the Digital Strategy for the legislative period 2022-2025. The Digital Strategy aims to improve the conditions for digitisation in Germany across all sectors. In particular, the strategy provides an overview of important digital policy projects that affect the country's economic and social development, such as nationwide gigabit expansion and the availability of data and data tools. Furthermore, the strategy sets goals for 2025, such as the expansion of fibre-optic connections for half of the households in Germany and legal and regulatory reforms. In addition, the strategy provides for the implementation of 18 lighthouse projects to advance Germany digitally.
