Published proposal for a Regulation on the European Health Data Space (EHDS) including rules for portability and sharing of health data
On 3 May 2022, the European Commission published a proposal for a Regulation on the European Health Data Space (EHDS), with the main objective to ensure that individuals in the European Union have more control over their electronic health data and health-specific challenges can be addressed by accessing and sharing electronic health data. The EHDS proposal is part of the 2020 European Strategy for Data. Under the proposal, the data obtained through wellness applications will be included in the “categories of electronic data for secondary use”, enabling entities collecting data to share it for research purposes.
