European Union: Release of public statement

In an official statement following a plennary session, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) calls on European legislators to ensure consistency of the emergent Data Governance Act (DGA) with the GDPR. Legislators shall avoid the risk of two conflicting sets of rules by finding common definitions, referencing the GDPR as the legal basis for all data protection measures in the DGA and ensuring a single oversight mechanism for both GDPR and DGA.
