Submission of application to join the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA) by China

On 1 November 2021, China officially filed an application to join the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA). The DEPA creates a common framework for data protection, establishes common rules on digital trade and removes digital barriers for businesses. Currently, Chile, Singapore and New Zealand are parties to the DEPA, and Canada and Korea are in negotiations to join it.
