Consultation opened for ACCC Report on social media services

On 16 August 2022, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission released an issues paper seeking views on potential competition issues in social media services in Australia. The stakeholders are invited to submit comments on the degree of competition between social media services, trends in mergers and acquisitions by social media platforms and their effect on competition, the role of advertising services on competition in social media services, and the use and abuse of social media services, with focus on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Reddit, and Discord. The paper is open for comments until 9 September 2022.
