Opened consultation on Commercial Surveillance and Data Security Rulemaking

On 22 August 2022, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) opened a public consultation on its Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) regarding Commercial Surveillance and Data Security. In particular, the FTC is seeking comments on whether the Commission should adopt new rules governing the collection, compilation, protection, use, analysis, and retention of consumer data by businesses.
